• Earl's Court, Manhattan

This past summer, Make Be-Leaves was awarded a contract to construct custom 14 ft. silk Ficus Trees for the new upscale Earl’s Court food court building in the financial district of Manhattan. Make Be-Leaves constructed these custom silk trees on multiple giant curly willow trunks, to the exact specifications provided by the design firm, Seed Design.

One of the challenges on this project was the very shallow space of the custom built elevated planters for the trees - with only eleven inch depth for the tree potting.

Make Be-Leaves used a combination of a sturdy utility bucket, cut to eleven inches tall, with cement fill to secure the silk Ficus tree trunks, and a custom steel plate designed with welded side supports, for the utility bucket to set snugly and securely into.

The decorative black river rock top fill, and a combination of uplighting at the base of the custom silk Ficus trees, with small lights through the foliage was the finishing touch that created a dramatic overall effect.
